Craig Strickland’s Wife Nonetheless ‘Positive’ & Talks Of
Crews have spent a week searching for Strickland’s body in Kaw Lake, after a boat carrying Strickland and his friend Chase Morland capsized.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says it recovered the body of Craig Strickland at Kaw Lake Monday morning.
Strickland was the lead singer in the Arkansas-based group Backroad Anthem. According to state troopers, they believe the pair’s boat could have turned over in the lake. Morland’s body was found December 28th.
The weather at the time of the trip was perilous – rain, sleet and snow pelted the area, with wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour and wind chills as low as 15 degrees Fahrenheit – and Morland acknowledged the danger in what is, in retrospect, a haunting tweet Saturday night.
While his dog was found alive, Craig’s hunting partner, Chase Morland, was found dead early that week.
Strickland’s wife shared her emotions and strength in her final photo of the day, which honored the people and canines looking for him.
Helen Strickland, Craig’s wife, told ABC News she was incredibly appreciative of the ongoing search efforts from local authorities. “Still we want in that closure in seeing him”. She said his family has been notified. They are still searching for Craig.
