Crashes block Indiana highways as snow squalls cross state
There were injuries reported, but police were still gathering information about the severity of the crashes.
Indiana State Police are at the scene of a crash involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 74 near the 168 mile marker which is near the Indiana/Ohio line. Some of the vehicles are overturned.
Indiana State Police reported multi-vehicle crashes on I-70 and I-74 Tuesday morning as a fast-moving clipper system covered the Ohio Valley and Northeast with snow. Sgt. Stephen Wheeles with the Indiana State Police said there were two separate crashed that totaled 40 different vehicles.

“A second semi came along behind him and there was a chain reaction from there”, Bowling said. Drivers are being directed to take USA 50.
That was just one of several crashes around central IN led to the closure of interstates around the area Tuesday morning.
According to Indiana State Police, a semi was traveling too fast for conditions, lost control and jack-knifed. In some areas of the state, the authorities warned of some impassable roads.
