Cristiano Ronaldo casts doubt on Real Madrid future after historic night
Real Madrid star, Ronaldo, touched the magical number of 500 goals with a first half strike in their match against the Swedish Side, Malmo, in the European Champions League on Wednesday night.
“Cristiano, the fans at Real Madrid love and admire you”.
Ronaldo wasn’t that visible but he still scored two goals. He scored a deflected free-kick in 2010 against Real Sociedad, and a few media outlets have attributed the goal to him, while a few haven’t. But as I have said a million times nobody can see into the future.
The Portuguese ended his silence with the press following Real Madrid’s victory over Malmo on Tuesday – in what was a historic night for him on a personal level.
“Maybe in the future we will play together again”, he said. “I’m fine here. I want to win things here and I feel good”.
“I am so happy and proud to beat the record for Real Madrid, it’s fantastic”, Ronaldo told broadcaster Viasat.
“Atletico are playing very well and are full of confidence”.
The 30-year-old opened the scoring when he latched on to Isco’s pass and clipped the ball home and added a second late on with a simple finish after he was set up by substitute Lucas Vazquez.
“You want to put me in a mess with what Pique has done, why does that matter to me?”
The disputed goal came in a La Liga game at Real Sociedad in September 2010 when Ronaldo’s shot arrowed towards the Sociedad wall, looped up off Pepe’s back and over goalkeeper Claudio Bravo into the net. He said: “We had talked about making it tough for them when they came here”.
However, Benitez was pleased to get the three points which allowed Madrid to join Paris Saint-Germain atop Group A with maximum points from two games. “I don’t think there will be any need to motivate the players for a match like this one”.
