Cristiano Ronaldo’s new Nike boots are inspired by his childhood home
Cristiano Ronaldo has wasted little time in becoming the most famous Madeiran export since those cakes your grandparents served when you went round for tea.
The seven-boot series begins, rather predictably, with Chapter 1 – a new pair of Mercurial Superfly boots that are inspired by the “savage beauty” of Ronaldo’s home town on the volcanic Portuguese island of Madeira.
“It’s a volcanic island, that’s why this boot is coming from Madeira”. “It’s a fantastic feeling”.
The collection took a collaboration between Nike’s World Headquarters and expert artisans in Montebelluna, Italy, to achieve the vibrant, six colour graphic flows from toe to heel. Supplementary color on the medial side adds extra flash while a new, smaller CR7 logo appears on the lateral side of the heel and an iridescent white Swoosh complements the design.
Apparently, this is the just the first edition in a series of new footwear which will chronicle Ronaldo’s development, so we are very much looking forward to the boots with Fergie’s face printed on the sides in 2017.
Nike say that ‘Chapter 2′ will be revealed in 2016.
