Croatia | Russia | Putin | Croatian president
Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, Croatia’s female president, flew straight to Russian Federation from the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit.
England’s Harry Kane won the Golden Boot for top scorer with six goals. She hugged players of the opponent team as well.
On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin formally passed the torch to Qatar for the next World Cup four years later.
“Certainly, it’s not fair that the United States is carrying the burden for the defense of Europe”, Grabar-Kitarovic said.
The 21st edition of the quadrennial tournament came to a fitting end as it had one of the most dramatic World Cup finals in the history of sport.
Croatia President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said she can not wait for the World Cup final against France, as police in Zagreb worked overtime to meet the huge demands from fans needing passports to attend the match. Grabar-Kitarovic did not miss a chance to promote her team and was seen handing out Croatian jerseys to Donald Trump, Theresa May and even Mr Putin himself.
But surely the people of Croatia are not ready to lose their attractive lady to France, not after losing the World Cup trophy to them.
“We can not but feel sad that this spectacular football festival, which had given us so many happy moments, vivid impressions and new friends, is nearly over”, Putin said.
Putin presented her with a bouquet of flowers, while she gave the Russian leader the Croatian national shirt.
One social media user said: “The heartbroken Croatia president looks graceful in defeat hugging every player!”
Croatia and France, meanwhile, are set to play the second half on FOX.
The leaders congratulated the team on the victory, and the football team of France in the answer has dedicated a chant to Putin. “We’re first and foremost responsible for our own security”.
