Cromartie released, Moore waived after 1-3 start
He was placed on injured reserve before the start of the season. The injuries piled up.
Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who was on Stanford’s staff in 2010 with Luck and is preparing for the Colts, knows there was a reason Luck got knocked around last week, and that he is the one guy who can withstand it and still bring his team back. It’s wonderful how one win can start changing the outlook of an entire fan base. But they can’t win with a response, so the smart play is to plead the fifth. Despite the injuries, the defense was able to shutdown Matthew Stafford and the Lions offense. They only trailed at Denver by one score and had the ball late, until a turnover turned into a Broncos touchdown. Journeyman Brian Hoyer and rookie Jordan Howard have earned their time in the spotlight.
And that is the only thing they care about moving forward.
Apparently there’s a cone of silence covering the Indianapolis Colts’ headquarters and the residences of several prominent individuals. The Colts lost to them in Week 2, while the Bears defeated them last week. Each is 1-3. In losses to Detroit, Denver and Jacksonville, Indianapolis’ fourth-quarter rallies have come up short.
Indianapolis is the first National Football League team to play a game in London and not have a bye the following week. While it’s entirely possible the Colts defense might be the remedy to that problem, it would appear the Colts should have enough firepower to prevail at home. The offense isn’t the juggernaut it’s been in the past either.
A lot has been made of Andrew Luck’s lack of success under center for the Indianapolis Colts recently. It’s there for the taking.
The final straw for linebacker Jerrell Freeman and his time with the Indianapolis Colts came last spring, when he and his agent approached the team to notify them about the three-year, $12 million contract offer, before incentives, that he received from the Chicago Bears. Look at some of the decisions they have made. The Jaguars are very beatable. “Hate to sit around for two weeks and wait for another opportunity (after the loss to the Jaguars)”. That’s out total focus, and it isn’t on anything else, and it can’t be on anything else except getting yourself as prepared as possible to play the Bears.
Back in the offseason, Colts owner Jim Irsay surprised many by not only by keeping both parts of a tandem (Grigson and Pagano) that didn’t like each other and did not seem to work well together, but also extending them through 2019.
“It gives us a lot of advantages”, receiver T.Y. Hilton said Wednesday. We expect wins. And it just doesn’t happen if you trot out on the field.
Maybe this gambit pays dividends with a Colts win against a bad Chicago Bears team Sunday. A split and the Bears are looking at another similar season to last year’s 6-10 record. He hasn’t picked off a pass since January 3 – a Cardinals playoff game against the Panthers.
The Bears are at a crossroads. They didn’t want the linebacker back.
