Cross-Border Afghan Fire Kills Seven Pakistan Soldiers
“Heavy fire from across Pak Afghan border early morning today on a FC check post northeast of Angoor Adda in South Waziristan”, the military said in a statement.
Seven Pakistani troops manning a security post near the Afghanistan border in South Wazirstan have been killed by cross-border gunfire, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani army’s media wing, said Tuesday.
Soon after the attack, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Khan strongly condemned the firing which killed seven FC personnel and injured three others.
Military statement says it is unclear whether fire came from militants of Afghan soldiers..
Since Pakistan’s armed forces launched a massive operation against various terror fits in the volatile tribal region along with Afghan border in June previous year, numerous terrorists are believed to have fled to Afghanistan.
The latest attack came two months after a cross-border rocket attack by militants on a Pakistani checkpoint in Khyber Agency killed at least four soldiers and wounded four others.
Afghanistan and Pakistan routinely trade accusations of doing too little to prevent Taliban fighters and other militants operating in the other’s territory. A wave of Taliban attacks in Kabul then strained relations with Pakistan.
