Cross-platform Nintendo Account service launches in Japan; NX to reportedly
Nintendo has not announced when Nintendo Accounts will be available in North America or Europe. Although now the service is still unavailable in other parts of the world, it is relatively safe to assume that the accounts should be making there way over to other territories before too long.
According to Eurogamer, unlike the previous Nintendo Network ID account service, the new Nintendo Account is an all-in-one membership scheme that connects all the account of players from various Nintendo platforms.
What’s even better is the Nintendo Account will also be used for the upcoming Nintendo NX.
Nintendo has gone ahead and launched its new Nintendo Account service in Japan this week, outlined back in October as a cross-platform console, PC and mobile service that would help expand Nintendo’s audience. For those who don’t have a NNID, you can register using Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or just an email.
Miitomo conversations will be computer generated (or “story pretend communication” – as it translates) and based on common interests between current friend lists or users can interact across the Nintendo Network.
Aside from launching the new account service, Nintendo is also holding a short promo for buyers.
It’s taken Nintendo a while to get its act together with this newly unified online identity portal, so let’s hope all of its engineers are busy making some truly exceptional hardware and games for the future.
