Cruz leads Trump in Iowa poll

Republican presidential candidates House Speaker Paul Ryan and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus distanced themselves from Trump on Tuesday. As The Telegraph reports, Trump recently told Fox’s Chris Mathews that Hillary Clinton’s policies have killed “hundreds of thousands” of people.
At center stage will be front-runner Donald Trump, fending off a challenge from Ted Cruz. The Minnesota stop is part of Cruz’s 12 city tour in states that, like Minnesota, will hold presidential caucuses or primaries on March 1. Carson has had the most dramatic decline in the series this year, even more dramatic than Jeb Bush’s decline over the summer.
While Trump has readily dispatched candidates who have opposed his views with characteristic flair – branding Bush “boring” and calling Ben Carson “pathological” – his comments against Cruz have been markedly more mute.
Trump continued to defend his own plan to bar Muslims from the U.S. “There’s a group of people”.
A Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register Iowa Poll released on Saturday showed Cruz, the junior senator from Texas, has surged ahead of Trump in the campaign for the Iowa caucuses. Reporter: Trump striking back.
Twitter critics make death threats against Donald Trump.
Throughout the election season, Cruz has been notably missing from Trump’s public assessments of his competition, and the pair have been collegial opponents. And Trump, in turn, has spared Cruz from the missiles he’s aimed at almost every other rival.
Trump went on the offensive after polls showed Cruz was gaining on him nationally, and had even overtaken him in Iowa, by branding him a “maniac” who will “never get anything done”.
“It’s a temporary solution until we get our hands around the problem”, Trump said.
Clinton, he said, is “one of the worst secretaries of state in the history of the country”. “These results suggest Bernie has a lot of work to do”. Trump’s still on top, Cruz now in second.
His remarks came the day after President Barack Obama called for tolerance in the wake of the deadly attack in San Bernadino by a married Muslim couple who had been radicalized. No matter what I say. If you want to know what I’m talking about, just ask North Carolinian Franklin Graham. Do you have wisdom and judgment? “The Muslims can help us figure out the answer”, he said. “Tremendous television show called the Apprentice that lasted 14 seasons, and by NBC came – they would beg me to do it again, as you can imagine and I said no, and they are going to sign, they signed Arnold Schwarzenegger”. What are you going to do about Social Security?
Speaking on CBS News’ “Face the Nation”, Sen. I can tell you other candidates are not exactly saying that about me. Rubio has tried to brand Cruz as an isolationist and has criticized his support for ending the bulk collection of Americans’ phone records, saying it weakens the government’s ability to identify potential terrorists. Christie advocates reinstating the program and giving law enforcement and intelligence agencies more ways to track terrorism. “We just have to wait to see how he does in the next one”.
