Cruz’s future permeates convention before his speech

Maine Rep. Stacey Guerin, elected as a Cruz delegate from Glenburn, warned of potential Supreme Court nominations by presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
“I thought it was huge of Trump, or I guess I should say “YUGE” of Trump, to ask Ted to speak at what’s going to be his convention”, said Gohmert, who represents East Texas, including Tyler and Lufkin.
Minor was heavily involved in failed efforts this week to put Cruz into nomination. By smaller, he meant that Cruz supporters were pushing for primaries where only registered Republicans can participate.
Cruz has not endorsed Trump despite pleas for party unity from the campaign and party officials.
Cruz is eager to be seen as the face of the modern conservative movement should there be an open GOP field in four years.
Cruz on Wednesday is expected to shelve that bad blood, at least temporarily, and take the stage at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland for one of the most anticipated speeches of the event.

If you wanted any more proof that law enforcement has become the dominant issue ahead of next week’s GOP runoff in Georgia’s 3rd congressional district, look no further than the latest announcement from the state chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police.
“The plan is 2020, and we have an opportunity to do that”, said Lozano, a family practice physician.
The anti-Trump conservatives unified with another faction trying to alter party rules to shift power from the establishment Republican National Committee to grassroots activists, including many supporters of Texas Sen.
In turn, Trump tagged Cruz “Lyin’ Ted” and suggested that his father, Rafael Cruz, had a hand in the Kennedy assassination.
“Is this going to be a Ted Cruz saying, “Thank you to all my delegates, and by the way, I hate Hillary Clinton”?” said Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics.
“We are very disappointed that Senator Cruz would support Mr. Crane at a time when the men and women of Law Enforcement are being murdered at a rate that is 100% greater than previous year at this time”.
Cuccinelli’s response could be interpreted to mean another time may come.
