Cruz wraps up southern state tour with stops in Oklahoma
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has courted conservatives in Arkansas and told a joke about Democratic candidates holding a debate when few people watch television.
“There are consequences when you elect Democrats in power”, Cruz said at a rally in Nashville.
That determination led to a decision by the Navy to award the Purple Heart to the five slain servicemen and another Marine who was injured there.
Ted Cruz during his second campaign visit to Arkansas, a group of student volunteers assisting the event took time to tour the Arkansas Capitol building.
The Texas senator made his first stop Tuesday in Knoxville, where supporters provided a cake and sang to him in honor of his 45th birthday.
She said the group began researching Republican candidates earlier this year and decided on Cruz as the candidate whose positions most clearing reflected their own.
Cruz got a rousing standing ovation from the crowd.
“For the top two presidential contenders on the republican side to come to Knoxville, I think it speaks tremendous volumes about Tennessee and how important Tennessee is and how important it’s going to be on Super Tuesday in the March 1 primary”, said Representative Jason Zachary.
Cruz previously visited Oklahoma City and Tulsa in August.
