Cryptic message: Memphis Depay hints at identity of ‘surprise’ Manchester
Following the departure of Robin van Persie and the decision not to make Radamel Falcao’s loan move permanent, United have been expected to bolster their front line.
However, although the forward remains a pivotal figure in Roberto Martinez’s attack, he has been tipped to become the “surprise striker” that United boss Louis van Gaal recently hinted that he would sign before the transfer window closes.
Depay, who moved to Old Trafford earlier in the summer, has spent time with Everton forward Romelu Lukaku over the summer and has posted a myriad of photos with the Belgian worldwide in recent weeks and months.
But Memphis Depay may have leaked who the Dutchman could be negotiating with.
Earlier today, the Holland star posted a picture of himself and Everton striker Romelu Lakuku to his official Instagram page.
With Manchester United and Everton not meeting until mid-October and their global sides not scheduled to play it’s been suggested Depay is referring to Lukaku joining him at Old Trafford.
Lukaku, who managed only 10 Premier League goals last season after completing a permanent £24m switch to Everton from Chelsea, would seemingly represent a more affordable and attainable option.
