Crystal Palace chief Parish: QPR striker Austin might be beyond us
Newcastle United have been urged to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin during the summer transfer window.
Leicester City have already had a £12 million bid rejected this summer, while the likes of Chelsea, AFC Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Aston Villa are all rumoured to be interested.
“We have had a conversation with intermediaries where we are led to believe that it is possible to buy that player for certain sums of money with wages of x should we show an interest in doing that”.
Barry Bannan has not gone on Crystal Palace’s pre-season trip to South Africa – and is likely to be on his way out of Selhurst Park.
The 26-year-old has expressed his desire to remain in the top flight of English football following QPR’s relegation last season and the midlands club now have the financial clout to sign the former Swindon man.
Bamford told Palace’s club website: “I was quite keen to stay close to London this time and Palace were actually my first choice, but I didn’t realise they were keen to start with”.
“I know Alan Shearer has been in touch and said he should sign but for me I would go all-out to try to get someone like him”. I do like to score goals, so hopefully I’ll be able to do that a lot here. I’m so pleased he chose us over others to help develop his game.
“Patrick is one of England’s brightest prospects and I will liaise with Jose (Mourinho), Gareth (Southgate) and Dan Ashworth on his progress during this important year in his career”.
