Crystal Palace vs Southampton Live Streaming, Playing 11 & Result
Alan Pardew summoned his players to Selhurst Park for an additional hour’s training on Friday morning in an attempt to solve the “crisis” of Crystal Palace’s poor form.
Following Palace’s 3-0 win over Southampton at Selhurst Park, the club’s first victory in eight games, Pardew thanked chairman Steve Parish for defending his position while suggesting the club has other investors “who perhaps don’t know a lot about football”.
“It’s hard to play with two goals they can stay in behind with a strong block … and with this bad pitch it’s hard to find solutions to play very well, but this is our fault, especially with a first half without good play from us”, he said.
Palace came from behind against Swansea to lead as stoppage time approached, only to concede two sloppy late goals and consign themselves to yet another loss.
“As a manager at any level in the modern era you have to expect it at some stage so I just have to do my job as best I can, and I try to do that every week”.
Instead we’ll look towards the goals market.
The game got off to a slow start with both teams looking to sniff out one another weaknesses in the opening exchanges. The six defeats we’ve had, the way we’ve played, we didn’t deserve what we got, but we needed to put that right. We’ve worked a little bit in training this week for the whole group, understanding how to see a game out. “We must go up there and get something”.
It was Pardew who convinced a board fresh to English football that they should part with £1 million to bring goal machine Rickie Lambert from Bristol Rovers to St Mary’s.
Palace have lost their last six Premier League games and hover outside the relegation zone only on goal difference.
Palace showed a determination not to be broken down and registered a first clean sheet of the Premier League campaign. Southampton manager Claude Puel blamed the state of the pitch and insisted Forster had done nothing wrong, but the goalkeeper told the club’s official website: “Apologies to my team-mates for making that mistake, but it’s one of those things”. Alex McCarthy is a doubt. “I don’t when he will come back with the squad to play. I have good coaches here, very good coaches, and I’m sure we can get to the bottom of it”.
