Cueto, Frazier lead Reds to 5-2 win over Rockies
With the Reds languishing in the standings and with Cueto eligible to be a free agent after the season, he is a prime candidate to be traded before Friday’s non-waiver deadline.Cueto had an uncharacteristic lapse in command last Sunday when he issued six walks in four innings against Cleveland and took the loss.
Instead, Cueto went out and tossed eight shutout innings at Colorado on Saturday night.
“He’s got game-changing speed”, Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. That proved to be prophetic.
Cincinnati (Cueto) -120 at Colorado (Rusin) O/U 10.5 Recommendation: Under I don’t bet many Unders at Coors Field, but this game has all the makings of a relatively low scoring contest on Saturday evening. The 23-year-old rookie is winless in his last four outings and recorded only one quality start during that span. Lorenzen held the Rockies to one run on two hits over seven dominant innings in Cincinnati on May 26.Kendrick saw his ERA climb again Tuesday after allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings against Texas. Nolan Arenado was lifted for pinch-hitter McKenry in the ninth after being hit by a pitch on the top of his left hand in the seventh inning. It was Chapman’s third career one-out save.
Billy Hamilton is expected to a part of the team’s future, and in the meantime he’ll look to continue tormenting the Colorado Rockies as the Reds try to cap this three-game set with back-to-back wins Sunday.
Hamilton, the major league leader in stolen bases, triggered the Reds’ big inning when he singled to lead off the third. Rusin threw to first in an attempted pickoff but Hamilton was already headed to second, forcing a hurried and errant throw by first baseman Ben Paulsen that went into the outfield, allowing Hamilton to advance to third.
