Cuomo: Airports, Municipalities Enter Ring to Battle for State Cash
Two years ago, Cuomo floated the idea of restoring government funded college programs in state prisons that were eliminated in the 1990s.
“The Albany County Airport Authority applauds Governor Cuomo’s initiative to invest in New York’s upstate airports and we look forward to submitting concrete proposals created to improve the overall operation, infrastructure and safety of the Albany International Airport”, said John O’Donnell, CEO of the Albany County Airport Authority.
The money would come from criminal forfeiture dollars taken in by the Manhattan district attorney’s office.
“We have colleagues in Albany who aren’t ready to do that and don’t want to pay for those programs”, he said.
Other remaining issues include the level of state aid to public schools, currently a record $27 billion, Medicaid funding, now $62 billion and covering one-third of New Yorkers, and total planned spending expected to include further windfalls from financial settlements.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo speaks on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, to the congregation of the Mount Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem. Businesses that file tax returns in NY as partnerships, S corporations and LLCs should all receive a 15 percent tax deduction if their business income is derived from a business entity with less than $1.5 million gross receipts and their total business income from those sources is below $250,000.
Time Warner Cable News will have extensive live coverage of Cuomo’s State of the State adress and budget address, including reaction and analysis. “I want to close more prisons with more alternatives to incarceration”.
