Curry annoyed by shin injury
Golden State’s Klay Thompson scored 22 of his 36 points in the first quarter to lay the foundation for a 109-88 over the lowly Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, exposing the gulf between the top and bottom teams in the Pacific Division.
Last week Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry had to miss two games as he was dealing with an injury to his lower leg. Curry has played in the teams last three games but in those games he has been in and out of the lineup as he has aggravated the injury several times.
While it is not surprising to see the defending National Basketball Association champion Golden State Warriors in possession of a three-game winning streak, it certainly qualifies as stunning to view the Los Angeles Lakers with one as well. The injury kept the Golden State Warriors superstar out of two games at the end of December, and he had to leave Saturday’s game early, too. “The other option, which I know he’s not going to do, is just sit out until it goes away”, Schulz said.
Warriors interim coach Luke Walton, after hearing Curry adamantly lobby to continue playing, allowed the reigning MVP after a timeout to stay in the game.
The Warriors have been experimenting with different shin pads to protect Curry, and Schulz says anything that limits the force of the impact on the sensitive area is the correct way to go about it.
With their jump shots and 3-pointers not falling like they were to begin the season, Charlotte needs to get back to its roots and show the defensive intensity that they became so well known for.
The lone bright spot for the Lakers was Jordan Clarkson, who had 23 points and 5 rebounds.
“It seems with them it doesn’t matter who plays”, Lakers coach Byron Scott said, “they come out with the same mentality”. Here’s a look at him appearing to put on a Warriors jersey over his Lakers jersey during Golden State’s blowout win.
For the third straight game, Green recorded a triple-double.
The Warriors held the upper hand through most of the first half after a 12-2 flurry that broke a 20-20 tie late in the first quarter.
He was 9 for 14 from the field, including 4 for 7 from 3-point range.
Guard Stephen Curry added 17 points, six assists and three steals for the Warriors (33-2), who have won nine of their past 10 since the Milwaukee Bucks ended their NBA-record 24-0 start.
He’s scored 20 or more points in eight of the last 10 games he’s played, a stretch that began with a 43 point performance at home versus Phoenix in mid-December.
Guard Leandro Barbosa (left shoulder sprain) and forward James Michael McAdoo (sprained toe) were out. Anthony finished with 11 rebounds and seven assists. Marco Belinelli came off the bench to score 21 points.
This is the second meeting between the two teams and they are slated to clash four times in the regular season.
