Curry’s triple-double leads Warriors past Kings 122-103
The Warriors improve to 29-1.
On Monday night, he might have truly earned his first without ever leaving the locker room. “When we got in there (at halftime), he said he had something to say”. I don’t get into debates, arguing with people about why I am versus somebody else.
“I just found a spark and shots started to fall”, he said. Draymond Green and Klay Thompson followed with 3-pointers as the Warriors pulled away with a 15-0 run.
The Kings, who have lost 11 in a row against their Northern California rivals, were excited to have a healthy DeMarcus Cousins for the first time in three meetings with the Warriors this season. Mark Jackson, the former coach of the Warriors from 2014-2011, said during ABC’s Christmas Day telecast of the Warriors vs. Cavaliers that Stephen Curry’s shooting might – through no fault of his own – adversely affect the young players out there who idolize him and want to model their games after him. “We’re not trying to beat teams in December”.
This has turned into a full-blown kerfuffle and everyone’s got their tongues tied trying to find some disrespect when there wasn’t any to begin with. “That’s what (Kerr) stressed”.
Luckily, no team is better in the National Basketball Association at keeping teams in the half court.
Kings coach George Karl said the game was badly refereed although club management post game acknowledged Cousins would likely be suspended for his actions. “As long and both the trainer and Steph tell us that he’s good to go, we’re going to play him”.
Omar Casspi led the Kings with a career-best 36 points and made 9 of 12 three-pointers. On Monday night, it was the Livingston/Clark/Iguodala/Rush/McAdoo line-up allowing the Kings to rattle off a 12-3 streak. Casspi’s seven first half threes marked the most in one half in Kings history, with his nine total treys tying Mike Bibby for the franchise record for most three-pointers in a game. That is Curry’s style of play because that is his body stature, he doesn’t have the size to do what Lebron does so he adapted and made himself the unstoppable shooter that he is.
“Every one was in the bottom (of the hoop)”. He waved off his concerned coaching staff after picking up his third foul in the second quarter. But the defending champs actually found themselves trailing in the third quarter, when the game’s key moment took place and the game swung Golden State’s way for good. Steph came in underrated, to an underrated team and led them to stardom with the help of the front office. C Kosta Koufos missed the game with an illness…. He brought the Warriors back to life after they had trailed by as many as 11 points.
The Warriors got within arm’s length, setting up the third-quarter turnaround, thanks to Curry, whose first field goal of the game came on a 3-pointer with 3:16 left in the half.
Utah’s Gordon Hayward hit a 3-pointer in the final minute to put the Jazz ahead and they hung on to edge lowly Philadelphia 95-91.
He only scored six points in the second half to finish with 23, but added 10 assists and 14 rebounds for his sixth career triple-double.
Andrew Wiggins led Minnesota with 18 points.
“He let me know about it”, Curry said of the missed shot over his brother, who finished with seven points on 1-of-6 shooting in 20 minutes.
