Curt Schilling pulled from Little League World Series coverage over Nazi tweet
In a move sure to generate controversy, former pitcher and current ESPN baseball analyst Curt Schilling tweeted, and soon deleted, an anti-Muslim sentiment on Tuesday.
It does not appear that Schilling made the image himself, though he points out, helpfully, “The math is staggering when you get to true #’s”. Those numbers are displayed over a photo of Adolf Hitler.
ESPN comment on Schilling: Curt’s tweet was completely unacceptable, and in no way represents our company’s perspective.
Schilling later deleted the meme after posting it, but it is still on his Facebook page. Curt isn’t always awful on social media-there was this heart-warming defense of his daughter in the face of cyber bullying-but the bad often overshadows the good, and this is pretty, pretty bad.
After the internet roasted Schilling for the tweet, ESPN suspended him indefinitely from their Little League World Series coverage – without saying it in so many words. We’ll update this post if we receive any updates. Sometimes you need to take a deep breath, push the keyboard away and do literally anything else.
