Curt Schilling To Return to ESPN For Major League Baseball Playoffs
Schilling was benched earlier this month from telecasts for the rest of the regular season and the wild-card game on October. 6.in the wake of his anti-Muslim tweet.
ESPN suspended Schilling at the end of August for posting a graphic to Twitter that identified five to ten percent of Muslims as extremists and then noted that only 7 percent of Germans in 1940 identified as Nazis.
After the World Series wraps up, Schilling will have one year left on his contract at ESPN. “We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration”, the Tweet read.
Just days before ESPN announced that Schilling would be back for the network’s playoff coverage, he shared an article from pastor John Hagee that Sunday’s blood moon was really a divine warning against the Iran Deal.
A USA Today sports blog post by Ted Berg, for instance, slammed Schilling for having “learned nothing” from his suspension because Schilling made other social media posts commenting on social issues.
An ESPN spokesman has reportedly said the network has no problem with Schilling’s posts.
ESPN said at the time of his punishment: “Curt’s actions have not been consistent with his contractual obligations, nor have they been professionally handled; they have obviously not reflected well on the company”.
The three-time World Series Champion was at the NASCAR race to deliver the pre-race prayer.
