Customs’ computer systems down at multiple airports, including Logan
According to CBS New York, a federal law enforcement official said the problem arose in a customs computer system used to check passenger names against the federal terror watch list. About 45 minutes later, a senior government official told NBC News the system was back online.
Just after 8:20, NBC News confirmed the system began experiencing problems.
Many travelers took to Twitter to complain about long lines at check-in points. Passengers are reporting lengthy delays going through U.S. Customs.
The issue is being reported at several major airports, including John F. Kennedy global Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth worldwide Airport and Charlotte Douglas global Airport.
A passenger at Boston Logan global Airport said computers were down and people were filling out green paper forms.
UPDATE at 9:16 EST: CNBC now reports that the problem with the DHS computer systems has now been resolved.
