Cutler: Bears doing good job picking up new offense
“Any quarterback I think is going to be happy with him”, Cutler said, via the team’s website. “I really have enjoyed watching him come along since the spring”. “It didn’t go the way I wanted it to go”.
In addition to potential scheme changes we expect to see with Adam Gase running the offense under new head coach John Fox, the Chicago Bears players are raving about the fresh atmosphere created by the new staff. Where we’re at, I don’t know exactly. There were some things system-wise that I tried to force down Jay’s throat in that first year and I know we were in the NFC championship and all that but the second year we tried to tailor it more toward things he was more comfortable with and that is where he really excelled.
Cutler has been impressed with the work his teammates have done on their own time to digest the offense. “I think we’re right where we need to be”.
Cutler has to do a better job of protecting the football.
“It’s not something we’re going to pick up in two or three weeks”. “You’ve got to play it for more than the money”. Fast forward a year and he sits in the same position, ready to contribute and be a key piece to the Bears offense, especially now that Kevin White’s timetable to return is up in the air. After Marshall delivered high praise for his new starting quarterback, Stephen A. Smith challenged his objectivity with rating his own quarterbacks, citing Marshall’s history of supporting Cutler throughout the years.
What’s interesting about Marshall’s comments is that chemistry has been at the top of his list of talking points in speaking about the Jets this season. It’s way better than I expected. Martz was ahead of his time with the Greatest Show on Turf and a lot of his playbook spread far in a copycat league.
Gase and Cutler have known each other for almost a decade.
Marshall and Cutler both entered the NFL in 2006 after being drafted by the Denver Broncos.
Brandon Marshall isn’t done ripping the Bears.
“Any quarterback is going to be happy with him”, said Cutler when asked the things about Gase’s offense that fit his style.
Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase met with reporters following Wednesday’s training camp practice at Olivet Nazarene University. “You put them together with coach and a defensive line, I think if they continue to work hard as they are doing right now in practice and camp, the sky is the limit for those guys”. The Bears are being very hush hush about his injury, which leads to me believe that it could be worse than they are saying.
“Right now, time will tell”, Gase said.
“So for me, I just felt like the time was now”. I’m feeling pretty good about it. We didn’t have a great day today. It was really good (in some respects) that Martellus wasn’t here. That’s sad. I don’t think there’s anybody in the league that had more chemistry than us. “But right now as far as what our offensive line’s done, I feel really good about it”. Cutler will need a strong season to take the next step with the organization.
