CVoter Exit Poll gives Punjab to AAP, UP to BJP
But all the exit polls were clear about one thing: Punjab’s voters are kicking out the incumbent Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party government. The poll average puts their seat forecast at 8, in an assembly of 117, a stinging blow for an alliance that is also in power in Delhi.
In Uttarakhand, both the BJP and Congress were neck and neck and may fall short of majority, the exit polls said. SP-Congress combine at 88, while BSP will lag with just 27.
Earlier, it was being speculated that rebel RSS leader Subhash Velingkar, who launched a new party that contested elections, and MGP will spoil BJP’s chances of returning to power. The UP exit poll says SP-Congress will win 120 seats and the BSP will end up with 90 seats.
India TV-CVoter: Uttarakhand expected to get hung Assembly. SAD-BJP combine may win 3-7 seats in Malwa and 0-4 each in Doab and Majha. The state has total 60 seats.
However, It may be mentioned that even if the BJP wins, it will not be by virtue of a clean majority and the support of regional parties will be influential to BJP in this regard. It predicts 185 seats for the BJP. Halfway-mark is 58 seats.
CVoter is a little more conservative, giving the BJP between 155 and 167 seats.
Even though most exit polls predict huge gains for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, the prospect of a hung Assembly stares at the state. Congress trails close second at 53 seats.
The BJP’s voteshare is projected to double, the BSP’s remain virtually unchanged and the SP-INC combine is projected to lose eight percentage points in voteshare. A year later, however, when the cloudburst hit and destroyed large parts of the hill state, Bahuguna’s shoddy relief and rehabilitation efforts came in from sharp criticism.
However, ABP News showed a tough fight between BJP and SP-Congress, with the two winning 169 and 161 seats respectively. It’s expected to be down to 2 seats from 19 in 2012. However, Congress will emerge the clear victor with 62-71 seats, India Today exit polls stated. Others are seen winning 2 seats.
With 35 per cent votes, the BJP is likely to secure 18-22 seats in the 40-seat Goa Assembly. If BJP does manage to stage a comeback, it will be yet another setback for the Congress whose presence is constantly declining from the states that were once considered its strongholds. 38 seats for the BJP, Congress at 26 while rest may get about 6 seats. After that, TV channels and news websites can start releasing exit poll results they have collected. The AAP may get six seats.
