Despite already having her DC Comics colleagues Arrow and the Flash, the CW network wasn’t interested in the new incarnation of Supergirl.
“I’m nonetheless broadcasting. There’s nonetheless a perception there’s extra there”, Pedowitz stated. Pedowitz didn’t reveal much about the reasoning behind thinking it’d be a good idea, but he did say: “You’ve got to take shots… we’ll see what happens when the script comes in”. He cited “Jane the Virgin”, the Golden Globe- and Peabody Award-winning sitcom, because the type of selection he is looking for.
Another example is freshman “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”, a musical comedy series about a successful young attorney (Rachel Bloom, “Robot Chicken”) who leaves New York to pursue love in the California suburb of West Covina. The present, with a number of theater veterans in its forged, debuts October 12.
In the network’s TCA presentation, he said, “There is no intention, at this point, to spin anything else off”. (CBS Corp. and Warner Bros co-own the CW.).
He expressed a measure of regret over the decision, which came before the network had launched “The Flash” and seen the audience response. “But as characters were introduced on Arrow and The Flash, we began to realize this was a great opportunity to create the third leg of the stool”.
DC’s television invasion may be coming to a halt, with The CW boss Mark Pedowitz insisting his network won’t air a fourth comic book show.
Benoist and Berlanti, along with Calista Flockhart, Jeremy Jordan and other cast members and producers of the CBS series, spoke about the show at the Television Critics Association summer meeting.
“He will be a factor in her life, but you won’t see him exactly on screen”, said DC Entertainment chief content officer Geoff Johns.
“I always approach these things as a fan myself and I always love when there’s a bigger universe at work, but at the same time these shows really have to function on their own”.
