Cyber Monday sales still on top, but losing some luster
Experts say Black Friday is losing its luster and shoppers are beginning to catch on like Tonya Sinn.
Americans were expected to plunk down $3 billion, or 14 percent, more than a year ago on single-day digital purchases, according to Adobe Index, which tracks spending at the top 500 U.S. retailers.
There are just so many retailers that it’s hard to summarize them all in one post, so make sure to check out for yourself all the local deals that you can find, especially smaller stores near you which may bring forth some insane deals.
The data underscored the ongoing shift in shopping to online retailers. Black Friday sales online jumped 14 percent from 2014. But this year, he started online shopping on Black Friday, buying five pairs of Sorel and Uggs shoes for gifts and eight Chromecasts that were two for $50 instead of $35 off. As of midmorning on Monday he was not impressed by deals he was seeing. Back then, consumers had a faster and more secure Internet connection at work, so they would be able to get some online shopping done when in the office. Some stores such as Macy’s have begun opening their doors on Thanksgiving; Radio Shack said this year it would offer its deals on Wednesday; and Amazon, the world’s largest retailer, began offering some deals as early as 20 November, a week in advance.

The record sales come days after traditional Black Friday sales fell by 10%. Online sales for the key holiday retail day of “Cyber Monday” were on track for a record, helped by surging smartphone shopping, market trackers said. Mulraney says, “When I try to go on early in the day there’s such an overload on the computers it’s hard to get through”.
According to the retail federation survey, over 103 million shopped online while 102 million people shopped in stores, according to its survey taken by 4,200 people.
Additional data from IBM puts the Cyber Monday online sales forecast at more than 18 percent after jumping 26 percent on Saturday and Sunday.
Despite a slow start to the day, footfall on Black Friday was 30pc higher than an average Friday, while online traffic grew by 60pc.
“Online growth is still strong”, said Bill Martin, co-founder of ShopperTrak, an Illinois-based retail analysis firm.
