Cyberpunk 2077 Is “Far, Far Bigger Than The Witcher 3” Says Dev
“CD Projekt Red’s mission is to take the passion they have for games and harness it to make the best RPGs in the world”. The Witcher 3 was by far the biggest game the developer had ever made, with claims made that it was 30 times the size of The Witcher 2.
Announced back in 2012, and based on the Mike Pondsmith’s tabletop games, Cyberpunk 2077 also marks the first time CD Projekt RED has developed a game that drew on sources other than Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher stories. They’ve gone on record saying that this year and next are all about supporting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and that any news of the dystopian future-themed RPG will come after that.
Jose Teixeira, CD Projekt Red visual effects artist, has been speaking to MCV United Kingdom about the upcoming title. As most gamers know the medieval setting for The Witcher 3 affords players to utilize a lot of melee weapons and a few low-range projectiles like magic attacks and crossbows. While many studios remain complacent and unchanging in their procedures involving releases’ development and gameplay styles – the repetitiveness of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise immediately comes to mind – it seems as if CD Projekt Red is set to continue evolving with Cyberpunk 2077. The details on Cyberpunk 2077 are very scarce, and there is not even any confirmation about which platform it will be on but we can assume it will be available across all current-generation consoles and PC. “Cyberpunk is going to benefit greatly from it. I can nearly guarantee it”, he said.
“The name of the game is Cyberpunk 2077, and we usually say the release date is 2077″, he joked.
