BLM reminds the public that the Hull fire could’ve been avoided by burying human waste, not burning toilet paper in dry grass and on public lands and lastly, if you pack it in, make sure to pack it out.
The so-called Hull Fire was reported Wednesday afternoon and was contained by Wednesday night, authorities said. Emergency responders called in ground and air resources to quell the flames, which spread to 73 acres.
Fire service spokesperson Carrie Bilbao told a local news network “I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go….it’s not the first time this has happened”.
After he completed his business, the man burned the toilet paper. The man’s story matched “evidence” found at the scene, according to investigators.
He has been fined for starting the inferno – and could pay thousands in fire-fighting costs.
