D23 2015: Orlando Bloom Confirmed for Pirates of the Caribbean 5
Filming on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales wrapped up in Australia at the beginning of August.
Fans also got treated to Johnny Depp in full Jack Sparrow regalia and manner.
Bloom, of course, originated the role of Will Turner in the first film, The Curse Of The Black Pearl, in 2003.
With Disney returning to its billion-dollar franchise for another dip into the Pirates Of The Caribbean, rumours – spurred by the actor himself – surfaced last year that Orlando Bloom would return as Will Turner. He starred as Will Turner in the first three adventures, 2003’s Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl, 2006’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and 2007’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.
The actor hinted that his storyline will centre on Will’s bond with his offspring.
In Dead Men Tell No Tales, it is reported that Javier Bardem will play a villainous pirate with an axe to grind against Sparrow. The new Pirates film also stars Kaya Scodelario (in, we’re guessing, the Keira Knightley-modeled ingénue role), Brenton Thwaites, Geoffrey Rush, and Javier Bardem as the new baddie.
Captain Jack this time has to track down the legendary Trident of Poseidon, which affords anyone who wields it total mastery over the seas.
The film is in post-production so it’s thought Orlando’s part is already complete and he has recently been promoting his latest project, Digging For Fire, which premiered this week.
“I don’t know why I’m here”, Depp jested when he took the stage at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, IMDB News quoted.
