Dad attacked daycare owner after he was denied kids
Francis Jackson, 31, father of three children who attend Martha’s Mini Day Care Center, showed up there last week accompanied by a woman who has not been identified.
Martha McClure, the daycare owner, refused to let Jackson pick up his child from the facility because she believed he was intoxicated. Martha had surgery on her eye Monday October. 12th and has a long road of healing ahead of her.
“[Jackson] was arrested through investigation and tips and assistance from a law enforcement agent, an officer named Arlen Auld that used to work for the CSKT tribe here, he now works for the Kalispell Tribal police in Usk, Washington”, Bell said.
McClure was caring for Jackson’s three children, all under the age of 4, Lake County officials said.
She was able to physically remove Jackson from the daycare center and lock the door. A photo on a gofundme.com page set up by McClure’s stepdaughter shows the daycare owner with two black eyes and other facial injuries.
McClure reported she could smell alcohol on Jackson and that he was angry and threatened to assault her in front of the kids, court records said. Jackson, then, became enraged and began hurling children’s toys, which included a small tricycle, at the dividing windows in an effort to get in.
McClure went outside, where she and Jackson fought until a woman hit McClure in the face with a snow shovel.
“She is not only a loving, caring and very supportive mother but loves every child that is in her care as one of her own”, said the page, which seeks contributions to help McClure with “medical costs, lost wages, counseling, or anything she may need at this time”. The couple have been charged with simple assault, assault with a weapon, aggravated burglary, and custodial interference.
Jackson waived extradition Tuesday morning during a court hearing in Pend Oreille County in Washington.
The girlfriend that used the shovel has still not been located. The Child Protective Services agency now has the legal custody of Jackson’s children.
“Tribal court records indicate that (Jackson’s) parental rights have been suspended and that the Department of Tribal Social Services has temporary legal custody of the children pending adoption”, the affidavit says.
