Dad lets daughter die, rather than be touched by ‘strange’ rescuer

A man of Asian origin has been arrested in United Arab Emirates for grappling with bodyguards on a public beach in Dubai and preventing them from saving his own drowning daughter.
The father of a 20-year-old woman has been arrested after he let his daughter drown, off the coast of Dubai, while stopping lifeguards from rescuing her.
There were many people on the beach when the lifeguards heard screams and immediately rushed to help the woman.
According to media reports, the father felt that his daughter will be defiled if she is rescued by “strange men”. “It shocked me and many others who were involved in the case”.
“The father was a strong and tall man. He started pulling and preventing the rescue men and got violent with them”.
The man grappled with lifeguards as they tried to save the 20-year-old woman, telling them if they touched his daughter it would “dishonour her”.
He said that the father, who was physically big, fought with the rescuers to stop them from getting to his daughter.
“She died unfortunately, at a time when she had a chance to live, especially that the rescue men were so close to her to pull her out of the water”, the officer concluded.
An expat in Dubai, now the man is being sued by the concerned authorities.
