Dad ‘tried to drown two young daughters and son in pond’
A Raleigh man is charged with three counts of attempted murder after allegedly throwing his three children in a lake Sunday night, according to WRAL.
At a press conference Monday morning, Durham Police Chief Jose Lopez said Lassiter made the 911 call.
After the two girls were pulled out of the lake, emergency responders administered CPR on them till an EMS ambulance arrived and took them both to a local hospital. A third child, who police said ran to a nearby business, was found unharmed and taken to police headquarters. The 3-year-old is in critical condition, police said.
Police Chief Jose Lopez said the following in a statement. “When somebody asks for help, really help them, OK?”
In a 911 call released by police, a man who identified himself as the children’s father said he had drowned his two daughters in a lake near an apartment complex. ‘Whether you have children or not you’re impacted by young lives placed in such a horrendous situation. Police initially said Diaz was 17 years old.
“All I did was try to go get help”, he says. “But instead they turned their back on me… the whole system and tried to take my kids”. “Nobody helped me”. “It’s insane”, said Debra Kay, neighbor.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:11 a.m.in the 1500 block of Braxton Street. “Really help them, because y’all didn’t help me”, Lassiter cried.
