Dadri incident is a ‘small incident’, says BJP MP Satyapal Singh
As if the recent spate of “unfortunate events” unfolded in the country were not enough, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Satyapal Singh has raked up a fresh controversy with his latest remarks on Dadri incident. “The statement falls in line with the BJP’s strategy”, said Congress leader, Ajoy Kumar.
His comment came four days after his father, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, made the same allegation, saying it was a conspiracy hatched by three persons from one organisation who had also played a similar role in the Muzaffarnagar riots of 2013.
He cited a preliminary investigation by his government to say, Facts indicate that Dadri was part of a pre-meditated strategy of the BJP and those affiliated to the party.
In 2012, SP had won 224 seats and the number rose to 231 after bye-elections, but the party has since seen its popularity wane as in last year’s Lok Sabha polls, it won only five of the 80 seats in the state where BJP swept by winning 73 seats.
The Uttar Pradesh government has submitted a report to the Centre on the issue.
Akhilesh maintained that the BJP has been trying to divide communities by raking up issues like “love jihad”, “ghar wapsi”, conversion.
“The BJP leaders know everything what the party is doing in UP”, the CM asserted.
“The leader must come forward to stop them”, the Chief Minister quipped.
The victim of the lynching incident, 50-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq was killed over rumours that his family had killed a cow and there was beef stored in their home in the Bisada village of Dadri, Uttar Pradesh. The incident has sparked outrage in the country, with parties attacking the BJP alleging that the killing was a result of its “politics of hatred”.
