Dak Prescott keeps carving teams up in the 4th quarter
Dak Prescott #4 of the Dallas Cowboys celebrates with teammates after scoring a touchdown during the fourth quarter against the Washington Redskins at AT&T Stadium on November 24, 2016 in Arlington, Texas. But Dallas answered with touchdowns each time the Redskins got within a score on Cousins passes of 5 yards to Jordan Reed and 67 yards to DeSean Jackson, who had 118 yards receiving.
After just three days of rest and little time to heal and prepare for the Dallas Cowboys, boasting the best record in the NFL, quarterback Kirk Cousins and the Redskins offense continued their recent trend of performing exceedingly well in the national spotlight. He completed 17 of 24 passes for 195 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Williams that gave the Cowboys a 17-3 lead just before halftime.
“I can’t say it enough”, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. With 14:54 remaining in the game, the odds of that being the last score by Dallas were extremely minimal, and as soon as the Cowboys score, it negates what the two-point conversion accomplishes. It’s why the seconds leached off the clock at the end of the first half while the Redskins fussed around.
“Guys are exhausted, guys are beat us”.
“That’s not an excuse”, Hopkins said.
“The responsibilities that have been thrown on them, they’ve handled it well and they’re executing at in a big way at critical times throughout games”.
Ezekiel Elliott had a much better outing this go-round against the Redskins and finished the game with 97 rushing yards and two TDs.
Prescott’s stiff-arm on Washington safety Donte Whitner for extra yards on an 18-yard run immediately before he threw a touchdown late in the first half.
The Cowboys’ biggest concern as they attempt to wrap up the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs could be a pass rush that failed to produce a single sack of Cousins in his 53 passing attempts Thursday. They were not able to score a touchdown until there was only 1:53 left in the game, making the score 31-26. It was their seventh loss in eight tries on Thanksgiving against Cowboys, who had never won more than eight consecutive in the regular season.
-There were a handful of important decisions made by Jay Gruden that impacted the game, and I thought all of them were at least open to debate or discussion, save for one. But they didn’t have anyone to contain me or assigned to me. “But I guess it was more than I had expected and it was unfortunate, but, like I said, both teams had to deal with it and it’s just part of playing there”.
Washington outgained Dallas, 240-170, and averaged 6.9 yards per play compared to 6.1 for the Cowboys.
Brown took full advantage of his chances by scoring on three of his five catches and finishing with 91 yards, two short of joining Hines Ward as the only players in franchise history with four straight 1,000-yard seasons. He made plays with his arm.
“First off, Washington needs to get their money back from Josh Norman”, Bryant told reporters after the game. While his replacement, Scott Tolzien, hung tough most of the night, the performance wasn’t good enough to extend the Colts’ 10-game winning streak on Thursday nights. I think it was about nine and change to go in that ball game, so I felt like they wanted to steal that possession at that point.
Even in the midst of a 10-game winning streak, the Cowboys have to be anxious about their defense. The two next closest teams are the 8-2 New England Patriots and the 8-2 Oakland Raiders.
I will be completely honest with you, and say that I was a little bit more anxious this week than I have been.
However, it will not be that easy as there are also other teams in the league who want to play in Great Britain.
