Dalai Lama cancels Boulder appearance for medical reasons
CU-Boulder was set to host the Dalai Lama on October. 21.
Tenzin Gyatso, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, has canceled his upcoming appearance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst along with his entire US tour.
The Tibetan spiritual leader will not be able to attend any of his planned events in the United States next month after a medical evaluation at the Mayo Clinic on Thursday, CU officials said.
The Rochester Post Bulletin says the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader has been seen around town, and that his office says it’s a routine check-up. We deeply regret cancellation of the visit and apologize to everyone who have worked so hard in organizing the visit as well as to the public who have been looking forward to the visit.
People who purchased tickets for the event, which was to be held in the Mullins Center, will be given full refunds.
The CU Athletics Ticket Office will contact those patrons whose credit cards have since expired or changed to make alternative refund arrangements.
The Office of Tibet did not specify what medical concerns sent the Dalai Lama back to India, but it did offer to reschedule his US visit in the future, health permitting.
The Dalai Lama sat down with the BBC to weigh in on a number of topics.
