Dalai Lama cancels visit to University of Colorado
The exiled Buddhist leader visited doctors in the United States who “advised His Holiness to rest for the next several weeks”, a statement from his office said yesterday.
The Office of Tibet says that the Dalai Lama will consider rescheduling the visit though.
Susan Soleil, the parliament’s Salt Lake City coordinator, also expressed concern for the iconic Tibetan leader’s health, saying the group offers “heartfelt prayer for his improved care and comfort”.
Ticket costs will automatically be refunded to ticket holder’s credit cards for all Dalai Lama events starting the week of October 5.
The statement gave no details about the Dalai Lama’s condition.
“We’re really disappointed. Of course we want the Dalai Lama to be healthy and well”, Jurme said.
The Office of Tibet has offered to try and reschedule the visit, but there is not confirmation at this point that the event has been rescheduled.
The Dalai Lama had appearances planned in Colorado, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Utah.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dalai Lama as he recovers his strength”, Rosen said. “And we all know he needed a rest”.
“We often forget that His Holiness is 80 years old, and how often he travels around the world is pretty wonderful at his age”, he said.
Those who bought tickets to the Mullins Center appearance can get refunds at the original point of purchase.
However, one critic said that the controversy might be a media blow up, which uses the Dalai Lama to attract public interest and gain traffic on the website.
