Dallas Cowboys fan punches Philadelphia Eagles fan, knocking him out
Philadelphia Eagles’ Zach Ertz (86) catches a pass as Dallas Cowboys’ Jeff Heath (38) defends in the second half of an NFL football game, Sunday, November 8, 2015, in Arlington, Texas. Here is a look at the team grades for the Dallas Cowboys after their 33-27 overtime loss to the Eagles on Sunday night. Are they the future in the middle, or does Dallas need to look towards the draft and free agency this offseason? Honestly, until the overtime touchdown by Philadelphia, the Cowboys offense played well enough to win.
The Cowboys fell to 2-6 and are 0-6 in Romo’s absence – the last three defeats all by a touchdown or less.
They got a break from the Hail Mary catch by Bryant that Matt Cassel never should have thrown, and another break from the upright that saved Dan Bailey’s overtime-forcing field goal. And his presence opened things up for Witten and Beasley, who were seeing constant double teams before his return. Matthews has been plagued by drops all season, but last night he made a pair of big plays at the end of the game, and finished the day with nine catches and 133 yards. Everybody doubted him and put him down for weeks and he responded in the best way possible, by having the best game of his season and arguably his career, he’s a true Eagle. He arrives early to catch balls off a machine and stays late to catch a few more. And then something unexpected happened: Bradford simultaneously helped buoy the Eagles and scuttle the Cowboys. He ran for 83 yards on 18 carries and added 78 receiving yards on six catches. It was a great game over all. Dallas running back Darren McFadden ran 27 times for 117 yards.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ 33-27 victory over the Dallas Cowboys addressed almost all of the questions surrounding the Eagles entering their bye week. It is as if everyone wrote off the Vikings after they were throttled by the 49ers – a team that has largely lived up to low expectations – on the Monday night of the opening weekend, and Minnesota has been winning its games on an island somewhere ever since.
After the game, Murray insisted the opponent didn’t make his performance any more special, but there was a satisfaction in voice that hasn’t been present since joining the Eagles in March.
-LB Sean Lee left the game in the third quarter with a concussion. His replacement, Anthony Hitchens went down with an injury, and while he returned, he was slowed. Belief is just a 2-4 week injury.
Hicks is known as “Simba” in the locker room, which is a nod to DeMeco Ryans, Hicks’ mentor, also known as “Mufasa”.
Barry Church, J.J. Wilcox and Jeff Heath led the team in tackles.
That may or may not have cost the Cowboys a real chance to win, but it was their own inability to sustain drives that did them in. This is a game the defense couldn’t hold it together, and completely spoiled the revitalized offense of Dallas. This one ended up taking overtime to decide a victor. He made bad decisions through most of the game.
The lead was brief because on the ensuing kickoff, Lucky Whitehead ran the ball out of the end zone, something neither returner had done all evening. The Eagles averaged 4.9 yards per carry. Star quarterback Tony Romo – injured in that Week 2 victory in Philly – won’t return for another two weeks, at which point Dallas might be staring at mathematical elimination. There are times where a Cowboys team that is without its quarterback should gamble. There were just two touchdowns in the first half-one for each side. Hardy managed a sack and several pressures but didn’t dominate the game, as the Eagles offensive line and Johnson played very well overall.
With the loss, Dallas now has six on the season. Unfortunately, they didn’t find one. You can only imagine what it would do to a player mentally if at the start of every game they would commit the same mistake they worked so hard to alienate. He said Matthews played well because of the way he pushed himself in practice during the week, playing both with Eagles starting offense and as the wide receiver on the scout team offense against the starting defense. “We want to cut them down next week”.
