Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo out for the season
“They were slower. I have to go look at the mechanics part of it, but I just feel physically that my natural instinct is just how it feels. Collarbones happen all the time like that”.
But undefeated teams this late in a season don’t deter the Cowboys or Romo.
Panther coach Ron Rivera said they practiced plays like those and this time it worked out. The first one came with just under a minute gone in the first quarter. “I’m actually numb today”. The injury, more than the loss, is what will likely doom the Cowboys to another year without a playoff appearance. “I wouldn’t want him any other way”. We all love him. I really put our team in a hole. A number of quarterbacks might be available at that point including Paxton Lynch of Memphis or Jared Goff of Cal. Either would make an ideal understudy for Romo and give this team a chance to fully realize the potential of that strong roster. He completed 11 of his 21 pass attempts for 106 yards.
Stafford finished 27 of 38 for 337 yards, with Calvin Johnson running three of his passes into the end zone to help inflict a third defeat in a row on the Eagles.
Here is the play where Romo got injured. I am not only talking about the fact that he let him start, but also in how he used him once he took the field. It cost our team. The difference between the Cassel-Weeden failures and the Romo time is staggering.
When Romo resumed playing, he acknowledged that a re-break of his collarbone was a possibility. He also broke his left collarbone in 2010.
The concern in recent seasons has been Romo’s back.
“You have to step in and try to fulfill that role”, Cassel said after leading Dallas’ only touchdown drive against the Panthers. “Just hoping he’s going to be all right”. Dallas does not play again until December 7 on ESPN’s Monday Night Football against the Washington Redskins.
“It’s a collective responsibility”.
However, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said initial X-rays were negative and Romo will be further evaluated on Friday, and added the QB will be back in the line-up if he can play. “We have to decide in the next few days on what we want to be”. Tony Romo was back and they beat the Miami Dolphins.
Jay Cutler threw for 200 yards and a touchdown as the Bears stunned the Packers, 17-13, at Lambeau Field. The Eagles (4-7) have lost three straight. Eddie Lacy rushed for 105 yards in defeat. The lowest total since 2012 and the ninth lowest total in team history. Despite their loss to the Carolina Panthers on Thanksgiving, they’re still in playoff contention, mostly because the NFC East is bad and a losing record could very well win the division.
