Dallas Cowboys week 14 preview
Should the Cowboys lose to the Packers on Sunday, they could see their 2015 season come to an end as well. He played well in that game [looked a little rusty], but went down with the same collarbone injury he had before against the Carolina Panthers on Thanksgiving Day after throwing two pick sixes.
No Missed Curfew: When Eddie Lacy barely saw the field last week, many people assumed that he had perhaps hurt himself again. There’s nothing like playing in Green Bay in December with the weather a huge factor to bring you back to reality. Both the Seahawks and the Buccaneers are squarely in the wild-card hunt, so it’s best to root for the Ravens and Saints to pull upsets. The magic eight ball would tell us that the outlook is not so good. If they have postseason hopes at stake when they play the other playoff contenders, they might be able to help Green Bay.
Here are three keys to the game for both the Cowboys and the Packers.
The Cowboys (4-9) suffered a setback to their chances of winning the mediocre NFC East.
Things are certainly very shaky for the Packers but if their last game was any indication, luck is still on their side.
Packers’ kicker Mason Crosby is 19-22 on field goals this season, while Jeff Janis averages more than 35 yards on kick returns.
-RUSHING OFFENSE: A. Better late than never, the Packers may have a potent rushing attack this season. If one or more of James Jones, Randall Cobb, or Davante Adams can step up to the plate and bail out their quarterback, this game should be an easy win for the Packers. Remarkably, Dallas is just one game behind the Redskins, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles, who are all 5-7. The Packers could have their work cut out for them this week.
The Green Bay Packers have a clock on the north end of Lambeau Field, above where Vince Lombardi used to have his office. The Cowboys need everyone in their secondary healthy and ready to play against Aaron Rodgers. Starks, the second part of Green Bay’s one-two backfield punch, had 71 yards rushing on 11 carries, and 32 yards receiving on four catches…. During that stretch there were four games Rodgers completed less than 58 percent of his throws and this would be his third consecutive 212 or less yards passing game.
NOTES: McCarthy said C Corey Linsley, who reinjured his ankle in the last game, will be hard-pressed to play Sunday.
It all starts up front-protecting the franchise quarterback and allowing Rodgers time to find receivers, along with opening holes for running backs James Starks and Eddie Lacy. The Cowboys should use a lot of press coverage. “There was space in there, and he did a good job of really working his routes and taking the time to get open”.
“It is what it is, man. When they called it incomplete, it was incomplete”, Bryant said.
For the Cowboys to move the ball successfully, they’re going to need to get the ball to the outside to their wide receivers quickly, using efficient throws to get the ball out of Matt Cassel’s hands. As we discussed, the Cowboys are the worst team in the National Football League in giveaway/takeaway differential, and if Green Bay’s defense can get to Cassel early, he might have a rough Sunday ahead of him.
