Dallas Police In Manhunt After Threat Received

Dallas police announced plans for the first three of the officers’ funerals, which will take place tomorrow and Thursday.

Brown’s comments came the same day the family of Micah Johnson, the suspected shooter, broke their silence, saying their son was never the same after he served six years in the Army Reserves and deployed to Afghanistan.

Johnson insisted on speaking only to a black police officer when he began negotiating, Brown said. “He was very disappointed”, she said.

“The military was not what Micah thought it would be”. I appreciate critics, but they’re not on the ground, their lives are not being put at risk by debating what tactics to take. “I didn’t see it coming”.

He said he was angry with white people; he wanted to kill them-especially white members of the police force. His stepmother Donna is white.

The attacks have clouded the future of Black Lives Matter, an anti-racism movement that has gained strength after the police killings of African-Americans but has also been criticised for vitriolic social media postings against police, some of them sympathetic to Johnson. The Army veteran’s so-called “move and shoot” technique puzzled responding officers.

Brown said it was not immediately clear what those letters meant.

Unable to reach a resolution, officers armed a robot with about a pound of C-4 explosive to end the standoff.

Police investigators are combing through hundreds of hours of video evidence – from officer body cameras, dashcams and nearby businesses – to try to piece together what happened.

“He just basically lied to us, playing games, laughing at us, singing, asking how many did he get and that he wanted to kill some more”, Brown said.

Bomb-making material, rifles and a combat journal were found at the home of Johnson, who was himself killed.

Dallas Police said its officials – using dogs – searched the parking lot but the hunt turned up nothing.

One of the gunmen behind last week’s shooting in Dallas wrote cryptic messages on the wall in his own blood.

The investigation into Johnson and any potential accomplices is ongoing.

The shooting occurred during a protest of the recent police shootings in which two black men were killed. “He was going to target law enforcement and make us pay”.

After hours of negotiating and gunfire exchanges, police killed Johnson using a robot delivered bomb. If he had been successfulit could have caused “devastating effects on our city”, he said. “We talked to this man a long time, and he threatened to blow up our police officers, we went to his home we saw that there was bomb-making equipment later”, Rawlings said on CBS” Face the Nation. An autopsy will confirm exactly how many times he was hit, Jenkins said.

Though trained in carpentry and construction through the military, NBC News reports that Johnson was most recently working for a company that provides care for people with disabilities.

“That hurts so deeply I can not adequately express the sadness I feel inside my heart”, he told his department, according to a report. “I’m sure that this guy was the black sheep of his unit”. Johnson was ordered to avoid all contact with her. It was unclear whether Johnson ever received counseling.

In all, 12 officers were shot just a few blocks from where President John F. Kennedy was slain in 1963.
