Dallas police job applications surge after fatal ambush attacks
The Dallas Police Department reports it has seen an unprecedented surge in applications since the July 7th shooting (up 344%), according to statistics posted on its Facebook page.
Now, the Dallas Police Department says that applicants have responded, with about 39 people per day applying between July 8 and July 20. “As of 2003, in a sample of 3,000 police departments, 98 percent of local police departments had an educational requirement for new recruits; 18 percent had “some type” of college requirement; nine percent required a two-year degree and less than one-percent required a four-year degree”. “Get out of that protest line and put in an application”. “And we’ll put you in your neighbourhood and we will help you resolve some of the problems you’re protesting about”.
“We fully anticipate we will have more than 500 applicants for NOPD just in the month of July alone”, said Melanie Talia, CEO of The New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation, a non-profit group that helps support the NOPD. While a loud minority of people have been trying to make this a topic of division for the residents of Dallas, it does not seem to be working.
Here’s to the future of the Dallas Police Department and its inspiring leader. From July 8 to July 20, it received almost 40 per day. Lorne Ahrens, 48, Officer Michael Krol, 40, Sgt. Michael Smith, 55, Officer Brent Thompson, 43, and Officer Patrick Zamarripa, 32 – Brown made the statement in a press conference to “serve your communities”. She also said to the Dallas PD, ‘Thank you for being heroes.’ And today, her 12-year-old son wants to be a cop when he grows up. According to NBC Dallas Fort Worth, the total applications per day in July has almost tripled from previous months, going from 11.3 per day to a deluge of almost 40 applicants every 24 hours.
The city budgeted to hire 200 new officers during the 2016 fiscal year, though on average about 200 officers leave the department as well, according to the Dallas Morning News.
“Every societal failure, we put it off on the cops to solve: Not enough mental health funding – let the cops handle it”. Here in Dallas, we got a loose dog problem. You know, schools fail, give it to the cops.
