Dalvin Cook doubtful to return (hamstring)
On a windy, wet day in Winston-Salem, Florida State survived a surprisingly potent threat from the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, who had put up six total points in their previous three games against the Seminoles. After he was hurt, things got awfully tough for the Seminoles.
But that could be the last highlight we see from Cook today because he left with a hamstring injury after and is considered doubtful to return to the game. “I feel like it will come”. However, they lost star RB Dalvin Cook to a leg injury, and he will be out for an undisclosed period of time.
Roberto Aguayo added a 25-yard field goal for the Seminoles (4-0, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). Quarterback Kendall Hinton went 19-for-46 for 245 yards and one touchdown.
Mike Weaver kicked three field goals for the Demon Deacons (2-3, 0-2), including a 29-yarder with 3:34 left that pulled them within eight.
I guess that week off didn’t make Cook any worse at playing football.
Fisher’s words rang true early in the Wake Forest game as the receiving corps dropped a pair of very catchable passes on Florida State’s opening drive that led to a three-and-out. Cook left with about 1:25 left in the quarter after making a reception for a first down.
“To me, the most important word in sports… is confidence”, Fisher said.
The Seminoles jumped out to a 24-10 lead in the third quarter. This is made more jarring when you realize that this Wake Forest defense only had four total sacks through their first four games. The Demon Deacons offense is averaging 300.0 yards in passing and 129.8 yards in rushing. It’s becoming a habit of Wake’s defensive unit to stuff screen passes and runs, only to later allow 50 yard gains on simple plays.
