Damontre Moore: Damontre Moore cut over headphones
Defensive end Damontre Moore is out of a job with the New York Giants that paid him $585,000 this season, because he lost his cool when he didn’t get a pair of free headphones.
Earlier this afternoon, the Giants parted ways with defensive end Damontre Moore.
Moore was a third-round draft pick out of Texas A&M in 2013.
According to sources, the reason for the release was a cumulative violation of team rules and maturity issues. It’s a shame he didn’t at least fight over some nicer headphones!
The Giants did not immediately announce a replacement for Moore on their roster.
Moore was not on the field with the team for Friday’s workout. Moore also was penalized several times this year during games for roughing the passer, and his lack of on-field discipline earned him a full-game benching in a Week 7 victory against the Dallas Cowboys.
Moore had three sacks this season and 23 combined tackles.
The Giants will need defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, and defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins to step it up this week against the Miami Dolphins if they’re going to stop Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Veteran George Selvie, who has been inactive the last two games, likely will play.
Notes & quotes: Left tackle Ereck Flowers (ankle) was limited in practice on Friday. Again, this isn’t to say the Raiders would be getting a star, just someone that could hold the fort down until Smith gets back. Offensive lineman Justin Pugh was fined $17,363 by the National Football League for a leg whip on the Jets’ Sheldon Richardson last week…
