Dangerfield close to call on touted Geelong move
Dangerfield was named in the All Australian side on Tuesday night but has returned to Adelaide for the Crows’ planned end of season function at an inner-city hotel on Wednesday.
Dangerfield has played 154 matches and kicked 163 goals for the Crows since moving to Adelaide at pick 10 in the 2007 draft.
“I suppose free agency is there to help the players”, Sloane said.
“I found the whole process pretty hard for a number of reasons”, says Judd, whose career ended after an innocuous collision with Dangerfield at the MCG in round 10.
SUPERSTAR free agent Patrick Dangerfield intends to walk out on Adelaide after eight seasons and is expected to join Geelong in October.
A stellar season has him in line for All Australian honours and Adelaide’s best and fairest, while bookmakers have him third favourite for the Brownlow Medal behind Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe and West Coast’s Matt Priddis.
“The club has you to serve them; there is no disloyalty in wanting to be close to family”.
The Cats refused to comment despite reports they had offered the brilliant midfielder a six-year deal worth $4.8 million.

The cloak-and dagger moves that have become a feature of free agency have caused consternation for fans who feel they are being duped by a duplicitous system.
Speculation is rife that Dangerfield will announce in a statement on Wednesday that he wants to be traded to Geelong.
Judd believes clubs should receive compensation for losing elite talent but is concerned by any restraint of trade.
“Potentially it could be like that but lets just wait and see and deal with the facts”, Ricciuto said on his morning radio program on Triple M.
Both player and club remain tight-lipped about his future.
“I’m going to be a bit vague here, you have to understand the position I’m in but everyone’s been speculating about Patty Dangerfield, all I can say is things will become clearer”.
