Dangerously cold wind chills today, big change ahead
A cold snap combined with stiff winds could plunge wind chill temperatures into the single digits and bring a chance of snow flurries Tuesday night into Wednesday. Temperatures this evening will quickly fall into the 30s with lows tonight expected to be in the mid 20s under partly cloudy skies. In central Iowa, wind chills around -15 are expected as well as wind gusts between 30 and 40 miles per hour. There is still no widespread threat of snow for much of the week ahead other than flurries or the possibility of some scattered light snow showers Tuesday night. This will be just enough snow for a slick and slow Tuesday morning commute.
Monday will be mostly sunny, with a high in the single digits. We should see snow area wide by 8/9 AM, which will then be fairly widespread and heavy at times through the balance of the morning before tapering off from west to east early this afternoon.
Wednesday will be breezy and colder.
Our high temperature will reach around 28 degrees Tuesday afternoon.
Snow will overspread much of western and parts of northern New England during tomorrow afternoon with a risk of a few rain showers developing over southeastern Mass.as well.
Tonight: Variably cloudy skies.
You can see how temperatures are up and down the next few days then warming towards the end of the week. Highs on Wednesday will be in the mid and upper 30s!
