Daniel Craig: I’m entitled to quit Bond
Spectre will be released in theaters on November 6.
Meanwhile, Craig, who has portrayed 007 in four films, admits he’s still not sure if he’ll be back for a fifth, just days after telling Time Out magazine he’d rather “slash my wrists” than play the superspy again.
And with filming stopped so the star could recover, he joked: “I like to think of it as a deliberate trick on my behalf to give everyone a break!” “It’s just as long as they’re good”. “Now all I care about it getting the film in front of an audience. Make it better, that’s all”.
He reflected: “That’s what was on my mind, and I said what was on my mind”.
But insisting he has never been in it for the money, Daniel replies: “I’ll genuinely say that I have never done any job for the money”.
“[As a child] the event of a Bond movie, the fact when it came out, it was always a special occasion to go to the cinema and see it”. It was going to have the gags in it, what Pierce did, what Sean had done. “I don’t go on the internet”.
Super-fan Helen Newman agreed, saying: “I loved it. It’s old-fashioned Bond”.
I think you mean the charms of a woman his own age.
Spectre also stars Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes and Rory Kinnear, alongside newcomers to the franchise such as Andrew Scott, Dave Bautista and Bond girls Lea Seydoux, Monica Bellucci and Stephanie Sigman.
“You just want to make the stunts as real and fresh as possible”. His last movie as James Bond might be Spectre.
Speaking to the BBC’s Lizo Mzimba on Thursday, Daniel Craig said he and director Sam Mendes had wanted to celebrate Bond but “didn’t want to look back and copy what’s been done before”.
And if that weren’t cringeworthy enough, Powell also asked Craig why he didn’t “strip off” as much in “Spectre” versus in the other films.
The mysterious clues take Bond to the depths of Mexico City and Rome, but a ghost from 007’s past quickly returns to haunt him.
When the interviewer pointed out Bond’s “way with the ladies”, Craig interrupted, “But let’s not forget that he’s actually a misogynist”.
