Daniel Craig won’t say whether ‘Spectre’ is his 007 swansong
“Craig also seems to have more fun this time round and even cracks a smile every now and then”.
LONDON (AP) Is “Spectre” Daniel Craig’s Bond swansong? He was so nice about it and I was so mortified because it made a really big sound which I think is still in the movie.
“I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists…”
Today, Craig responded to the fanboy questions posed by Red Bulletin with the same frank and abrupt tone he’s known to adopt during interviews.
File – In this 1963 file photo, Scottish actor Sean Connery, left, actress Phyllis Newman and conductor Leonard Bernstein are shown at the United States premiere of the James Bond movie “Dr. No” in New York. Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of Spectre. And I could go, ‘Thank you very much, good luck with that.’ And that would have been wonderful. “Make it better, that’s all”, he told Time Out.
“He moves so quickly and is so agile and for me, I think the sequences with him are all the more terrifying because of his presence”, Craig said.
We hope the footage of him changing in and out of his various tops is included as a special feature when Spectre is released on DVD – as we definitely want to see that.
“I still don’t know”, he says, when asked whether or not he’s ready to pass on the baton.
“You can’t please everybody”, he said.
Craig has received quite a bit of critical praise for how he has ably taken James Bond “into a majestically craggy middle age”, according to The Daily Telegraph.
But insisting he has never been in it for the money, Daniel replies: “I’ll genuinely say that I have never done any job for the money”.
“We’ve spent a huge amount of time on this movie just trying to find the humour in it, but also that the story is as strong and as real as possible”.
Video of the interview has already gone viral, with many viewers discussing whether Craig was being rude for not playing along with what was obviously a joke, or whether Powell should get sacked for acting in such an unprofessional manner.
Spectre is expected to storm the box office when it opens in United Kingdom cinemas on 26 October before opening in the USA on 6 November.
