AXE also credited the viral video to their tweet, “Daaaaamn Daniel”.
The “Damn Daniel” video was created and uploaded by Joshua Holtz showing video clips of his friend, Daniel Lara, and his different outfits, including white Vans tennis shoes. “Back at it again with the white Vans!”. It has since been retweeted more than 290,000 times and “liked” more than 375,000 times.
Right now, there are 844 listings on eBay for “Damn Daniel white Vans” – one pair, which presently has 83 bidders, are selling for a mind-boggling $300,000.
Police armed with rifles and backed by air units surrounded a Southern California home overnight after receiving a 911 call of a woman gunned down inside the residence – only to learn that the call was a “swatting” prank on a teen whose viral “Damn, Daniel” video has captivated the Internet.
The call prompted officers to respond to a home in the 6000 block of Hamilton Drive about 1:08 a.m. with guns drawn and a helicopter overhead. The family cooperated with authorities, at which point police searched the home, cleared the scene and determined it was a false report.
Lt. Christian Dinco said “we take these calls seriously and it came in saying someone killed their mother with an AK 47”. Many celebrities have been victims of swatting, including Lil Wayne, Justin Timberlake and Miley Cyrus. The family told police they’ve been receiving phone calls from strangers ever since the online video gained fame.
For no apparent reason, a 30-second video now known in pop culture nomenclature as the “Damn Daniel” went viral earlier this week. Making a hoax call to police is a misdemeanor that can carry a sentence of up to a year in prison. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
