Daniel Sturridge could return for Liverpool at Manchester United
Sturridge’s time across the pond is coming to an end, though, as the England man showed off some skills and shared some thoughts via Instagram about his pending departure back home.
According to the newspaper, the England global has confirmed that he will be returning to the UK soon after successfully recovering from a hip injury Stateside, indicating that he would be back training with the Liverpool squad next week.
The England striker was dogged by injuries last season and went under the knife in New York in May in a bid to solve his problems.
The paper claims that the club have earmarked the Manchester United game on September 12th for Sturridge’s first appearance of the season, which will be welcome news for both Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool’s fans.
The 25-year-old had spent most of the past four months in Massachusetts where he has benefited from the expertise of Boston Red Sox’s sports science and medical staff.
A combination of thigh and calf problems kept Sturridge on the sidelines last term.
He has been assessed in Boston this week by Glen Driscoll and Chris Morgan, Liverpool’s head of performance and head of physiotherapy respectively, and is due to travel back to Melwood with the pair this weekend having responded well to the operation and fitness programme.
With Sturridge’s injury history, it’s a very real fear since the striker has re-injured himself in the past after returning to full training post-rehab.
