Daniel Sturridge targeting return to action for Liverpool ONE MONTH ahead of
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has been pencilled in for a return to the side in time to face Manchester United on September 12th.
The England global endured a nightmare season for the Reds last year as his campaign was blighted with a number of niggling injuries which caused him to make just 12 appearances in the Barclays Premier League. He underwent an operation on his hip in New York in May and has continued his rehabilitation in America all summer.
He will now fly home to the UK this weekend to continue the final stages of his recovery before joining his team mates at the end of the month to start full training.
If that game arrives too soon, Liverpool’s next game is their Europa League group opener five days later, which would be an ideal opportunity to ease Sturridge back into fitness.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has strengthened his attack following a disastrous season, bringing in Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings to help take some of the goalscoring responsibility off Sturridge.
We’ll have to see how he reacts when he eventually returns to training later this month but assuming he doesn’t suffer any set-backs, it appears he could make his comeback when Liverpool travel to Old Trafford next month.
