Dave Grohl brings up drunk, crying fan to sing ‘My Hero’
Last night (Aug. 16) at the Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Colorado, it was a “crying grown man” who benefitted from Grohl’s generosity. “You never know what you’re going to get”. “I’m gonna sing this s**t to you right now”, he added. You’re f***ing crying aren’t you? Are you crying? I love you man, look at you, holy s***.
Recognizing a moment in the making when he sees one, Grohl then abandons his speech and decides to finish “My Hero” as a face-to-face serenade. Normally, this would go unnoticed, but Dave couldn’t help but point out his “crying grown-ass man ” and decided to dedicate the performance to him.
“I’m going to sing this f****** song right in your face, man to man, prison style, I’m going man to man. Me and you, I want some real tears, you better sing it with me”.
After demanding that he get “Front row, against the rail, right here!”
Don’t cry motherf-er, I know you’re drunk, don’t cry. Their meeting came after the band’s frontman, Dave Grohl, accepted Zaffagnini’s request to have Foo Fighters play in Cesena, Italy. The band’s North American dates continue through October. He even shared the mic with him for a duet on the chorus. Warning: this video contains profanity.
Of particular note is the way the man, Anthony, reacts to it all – or doesn’t, as he’s either completely overwhelmed by the events to really process what’s going on or is too inebriated to fully understand it. Either way, he has a great time on stage regardless – as does Grohl, who can’t hold back a gleeful smile about the whole spectacle. The Foo Fighters and their wacky antics but serious effort in music have been delighting audiences since 1995.
